At the end of the 19th century, the famous “War of the Currents” broke out. On one side was Thomas Edison, who advocated for direct current (DC). On the other was Tesla, who believed in alternating current (AC). AC could transmit electricity over much greater distances with fewer losses. Today, nearly all of the world’s electrical grids are based on Tesla’s ideas.

The famous Tesla coil produces impressive electrical discharges that resemble artificial lightning. It is based on electromagnetic induction, a phenomenon that allows for the conversion and transmission of electrical energy.
